When Engagement Becomes Disruptive: Tools to Protect Staff from Workplace Interference
December 08, 2026
Missed the session at Town Fair? Here’s your chance! Now is your opportunity to experience the same presentation, featuring the same speakers and content. Due to popular demand, we're bringing it back so more municipal officials can benefit from this important conversation.
Public-facing municipal work invites community contact, but not all contact is constructive. This session addresses the full spectrum of a municipal employer’s response when interactions turn disruptive, from early leadership intervention and de-escalation, to understanding your legal authority over municipal spaces, to knowing when and how to involve law enforcement. Presenters will also highlight a newly released resource: Model Rules of Conduct in Municipal Buildings.
Speakers
Julie McKenzie, Deputy General Counsel and Director of PACIF Field Risk Services, VLCT
