This information session is for PACIF members that operate or supervise gravel and/or sand pits or related operations that are subject to regulation by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) of the U.S. Department of Labor. Topics will include:
The various types of operating scenarios that municipalities have and how MSHA regulations and training requirements apply.
Different ways to complete the MSHA annual refresher training.
How the MSHA Compliance and Assistance Office can help you meet aspects of the regulation without the risk of citations.
Specific pit operations guidance on topics such as proper signage, berms, on-site office space and bathrooms, appropriate erosion control measures, noise and dust control, and standing water in pits.
Who is responsible for providing the required training when working in a pit that’s not operated by the municipality.
