Description

The Town of Chittenden is seeking a full-time road crew member to join our Highway Department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Operate a snowplow and other road equipment and machinery necessary for snow removal, road sanding, and salting. Help maintain and repair road equipment and town garage. Irregular times and hours will be required depending on weather conditions.
Help with tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of the town highways, such as: repairing gravel roads, installing culverts, hauling or moving equipment, cleaning ditches and culverts, installing road signs, and cutting brush.
Safely operate hand machinery and equipment such as chainsaws, weed or brush trimmers, welders, shovels and rakes necessary for highway maintenance.
Keep a daily record of hours, locations of work, equipment and materials used.
Reports directly to the Road Foreman.

Skill Requirements

Knowledge and ability to operate town highway equipment, particularly snowplows and dump trucks.
The ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, keep records, and cooperate effectively with fellow workers, and interact well with the public.
Must have a minimum of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License. Must comply with US DOT Drug & Alcohol as required by 49 CFR Part 655 or 49 CFR Part 382 and 49 CFR Part 40.
