Highway Maintenance & Equipment Operator – Full-Time Position
The Town of Weston is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Road Crew as a Highway Maintenance & Equipment Operator. This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits, offering the opportunity to work outdoors, operate heavy equipment, and support the essential maintenance of the town’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plow and sand town roads during winter storms
- Operate trucks and heavy equipment for hauling, ditching, excavation, and road repair
- Maintain gravel and paved roads, drainage systems, culverts, and signage
- Perform roadside mowing, brush cutting, and general vegetation control
- Use hand tools and power equipment such as chainsaws, weed whackers, mowers, and chippers
- Conduct minor repairs and routine maintenance on town vehicles and equipment
- Assist with town building and grounds maintenance
- Respond to emergencies and weather events on a 24/7 on-call basis
- Communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, and supervisors
Qualifications:
- Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 35 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Ability to bend, walk, and work on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one
- Experience with highway maintenance or heavy equipment preferred but not required
- Willingness to follow safety practices and town policies
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
