The Town of Castleton is looking for an energetic, collaborative, and experienced municipal leader to join our team as Assistant Town Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated municipal organization committed to providing excellent services, strengthening our community, and building a strong future for Castleton.

Working closely with the Town Manager, Select Board, department heads, employees, and community partners, the Assistant Town Manager will help turn priorities into action and ensure the Town’s day-to-day operations run effectively and professionally.

This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful variety. Responsibilities include supporting municipal departments, managing personnel and human resources activities, assisting with the annual budget, pursuing grant opportunities, coordinating infrastructure initiatives, supporting emergency preparedness, improving administrative systems, and helping implement Select Board policies and community priorities.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver, relationship-builder, and team player who enjoys working with people and tackling the challenges that come with local government. We are seeking someone who can balance big-picture thinking with the details, communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, and approach sensitive issues with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.

Candidates should have five or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in municipal government, public administration, local government operations, or a related field, including supervisory or management experience. An associate’s degree or higher in a related field is preferred, although equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.
