The Town of Essex is seeking to fill a vacancy for a Water/Sewer Operator Class I, II or III in the Water/Sewer Division of Public Works. This is a full-time position with on-call requirements and excellent benefits. The Town will provide on the job training to those who are qualified.
This position includes performing maintenance on sewer and water lines; hydrants, valves, pump stations and machinery in the sewer and water systems; performing maintenance on vehicles; operating sewer department vehicle and sewer cleaner; repairing broken water and sewer mains; serving as inspector on newly constructed water and sewer distribution systems and service connections, installing water meters, as well as other duties identified in the job description.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $32.00 per hour. The starting salary for this role varies depending on the level of experience of the chosen candidate.
This position requires a CDL and a Class D Water Operators License upon hire or within the first year of employment. The Town of Essex will pay for all needed trainings and licensures relating to this requirement. This is a full-time hourly position covered by our AFSCME union contract.
