What are we hiring for?
We are interested in soliciting applications from interested candidates for any of the below possible positions to work with our new Town Manager and utility staff to write the next chapter of our upgraded facility. We are interested in applications for:
- Chief Operator
- Assistant Chief Operator
- Licensed Operator
We will not be hiring someone into each of those positions, but rather, we would like to cast a wide net, and see who out there is excited about the possibility of playing a role in such a major facility upgrade that will have a lasting impact on the community and region.
Chief Operator
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all wastewater collection, treatment, and drinking water operations
- Direct daily operations, maintenance, and long-term system planning
- Prepare and manage division budgets and ensure proper expenditure of funds
- Supervise staff and coordinate schedules across departments
- Serve as system coordinator reviewing plans, inspecting work, and accepting completed systems
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and required testing
- Maintain strong public and interagency relationships in a visible community-facing role
Minimum qualifications:
- 5–7 years experience managing a municipal wastewater and/or water system
- NH Grade III or IV Wastewater Operator (or ability to obtain within specified time)
- Water certifications (Grade I Treatment / Grade II Distribution) or ability to obtain
- Valid NH Driver’s License
Pay, benefits and schedule:
- This is a full-time, exempt position
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM + on-call as needed
- Salary range: $106,000 - $130,000 (DOQ)

Assistant Chief Operator
Key responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating and performing wastewater collection, treatment, and drinking water operations
- Support daily plant operations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response
- Help supervise and coordinate operational staff and contractor activities
- Assist with regulatory testing, reporting, inspections, and compliance requirements
- Maintain equipment, records, logs, and operational documentation
- Support long-term planning, capital projects, and system improvements
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to operational emergencies as needed
- Maintain strong working relationships with regulators, residents, businesses, and other departments
Minimum qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience managing a municipal wastewater and/or water system
- NH Grade II or III Wastewater Operator (or ability to obtain within specified time)
- Water certifications (Grade I Treatment / Grade II Distribution) or ability to obtain
- Valid NH Driver’s License
Pay, benefits, and schedule:
- This is a full-time, exempt position
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM + on-call as needed
- Salary range: $93,000 - $114,000 (DOQ)

Licensed Operator
Key responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain wastewater and drinking water treatment facilities and related infrastructure
- Perform routine inspections, sampling, testing, and operational monitoring
- Assist with preventative maintenance and repair of pumps, equipment, and utility systems
- Maintain operational logs, records, and regulatory documentation
- Respond to operational issues, alarms, and emergency callouts as needed
- Assist with snow removal, grounds maintenance, and general facility upkeep as assigned
- Support regulatory compliance and safe operating practices
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
Minimum qualifications:
- Experience in water and/or wastewater operations preferred
- Applicable NH licensed operator certification (Grade 1 or higher), or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor
- Valid NH Driver’s License
Pay, benefits, and schedule:
- This is a fulltime hourly position
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM + on-call as needed
- Salary range: $32 - $42 hour DOQ
