Description

The Town of St. Johnsbury is currently accepting applications for the full-time Operator position within the Department of Public Works (DPW).

This full-time employment opportunity offers competitive compensation with a starting salary of $23.63 an hour, and a generous benefits package, including a pension plan, medical and dental insurance, life and short-term disability insurance, paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time benefits.

The DPW Team is responsible for snow removal and road maintenance, including grading, ditching, road repair, roadside mowing, culvert work, chainsaw operations, equipment maintenance, and maintenance and repairs to town water and sewer systems.

The right candidate will have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask. The candidate must also pass the pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing during employment.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within six months and pass a criminal background check. This position requires availability to respond during emergency events.
