Full Time Police Officer

The Town of Thetford Vermont Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full time Police Officer. The ideal candidate will be Level III certified in the State of Vermont. If the candidate is out-of-state, they must have comparable certification in their respective state to obtain an academy waiver in Vermont.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of dedicated officers who provide high quality professional police services to our community. The candidate will be required to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required. Details are available at a higher detail rate throughout the year.

Successful applicants must:

· Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Maintain a high level of physical fitness

· Be at least 21 years old

· Possess a high school diploma or college degree

· Be a US citizen

· Have a desire to serve others

· Be drug free

· Undergo an extensive background investigation

The Town of Thetford offers a competitive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision plans. Retirement is the VMERS D plan with an optional 457 plan. Starting wage of $32.00 per hour for qualified candidates, or higher for experienced candidates. There is a shift differential of $0.60 for night or weekend shifts. Generous leave time is available to all employees. This is a Union position.
