The Town of Sheldon is seeking a highly organized, steady, and service-driven professional to join our municipal team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured, public-facing environment and takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and professional conduct. The Assistant Town Clerk is a key contributor to daily operations and serves as a trusted resource for residents.

This is a 20-30 hour per week position with opportunity for growth and increasing responsibility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Public counter and phone service
  • Vital records processing
  • Land record recording and indexing
  • License and permit issuance
  • Election support
  • Payment processing and bookkeeping assistance
  • Records management and administrative support

Bookkeeping experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Municipal experience and NEMRC preferred.

Compensation: $21–$24/hour DOQ
Benefits include vacation, sick leave, insurance options, retirement, and personal time.
