The South Burlington Police Officer performs patrol and related police work in the maintenance of law and order, in the protection of life and property, and in the prevention and suppression of crime and other related work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: As a Police Officer, you will:
- Patrol by radio car for extended periods; may patrol by bicycle, motorcycle, or on foot; investigate unusual conditions; assist motorists in distress; supervise activities at scenes of accidents, aid victims, and direct traffic; enforce traffic regulations by issuing warnings, tickets, or citations.
- Enforce local ordinances and federal and state laws, issue citations, and serve warrants. Make arrests for violations of law; enforce fish and wildlife laws; gather evidence and prepare reports for court cases; appear in court to present evidence; complete reports and maintain appropriate records of activities
- Conduct criminal, juvenile, and accident investigations as needed; determine whether investigation is warranted; interview and/or interrogate victims, witnesses, and suspects; may also perform all duties related to accident investigation and assist at arson investigation.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 21 Years of age, authorized to work in the United States. No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions or habitual or serious traffic offenses. Must successfully pass the written examination, psychological and oral board review, physical examination, and background check. Valid driver’s license required.
SALARY RANGE: $74,880 Annually
